Understanding Risk Scores: 0–100 Scale Explained

A deep-dive into how risk scores are calculated and what each range means

May 10, 2026

The 0–100 Risk Scale

Scores from 0–30 indicate trusted sources such as licensed exchanges, miners, and payment providers. Scores from 31–69 indicate suspicious activity including unlicensed exchanges and P2P platforms. Scores from 70–100 indicate high-risk or dangerous sources like mixers, sanctions-listed entities, and dark markets.

Risk Categories

GetBlock classifies each checked entity into one of three categories: Trusted, Suspicious, or Dangerous. These categories map directly to the risk score ranges and are returned alongside the numeric score in every API response.

Recommended Actions by Score

For scores 0–30, normal processing is appropriate. For 31–69, enhanced due diligence is recommended — request additional verification from the counterparty. For scores 70+, transaction blocking or reporting to compliance officers is advised.
